NHS Innovations
NHS Innovations North is the NHS Innovation Hub for the North East of England and is a service delivered by RTC North Limited on behalf of the NHS.
NHS Innovations North is part of a national network of nine regional NHS Innovation Hubs, aligned to Regional Development Agencies and Strategic Health Authority boundaries. NHS Innovations North was established in 2001 in order to champion the cause of healthcare innovation as well as identifying, developing and commercialising intellectual property (IP) created by NHS employees.
The drivers for this activity include:
- improved patient care
- enhanced service delivery
- increased business and enterprise activity
- additional revenue that can be reinvested into patient services by the NHS

Design Network North
Funded by One North East and the European Regional Development Fund, the network is co-ordinated by RTC North and supported by Knowledge House and the Universities of Northumbria, Newcastle and Teesside.
Intended to enhance regional companies’ ability to employ high-quality design, skills and processes, Design Network North works closely with other regional, national and international design projects, and helps those without access to the relevant design skills, achieve their aspirations for growth.
The network will support design projects provided by a list of regional and national suppliers and showcase the best of North East Design.
